Instructor Shannon Hill

Shannon Hill found yoga later than she likes to admit after recovering from two knee surgeries. She was immediately hooked! The breath control work reminded her of her years as a swimmer, and the challenge a good flow class brings helped her quiet her mind. In 2014 she jumped in with both feet and got her 200 hour teacher certification with Mira Yoga School. She’s been teaching non-stop since then and loves to welcome both new and experienced yogis to her class. She works to design approachable, light hearted classes with plenty of time for her students to explore on their mats. Her favorite part of being a teacher is to look out across a class and see everyone working on the same pose taking variations that make their practice their own!

Somatic Movement Improvisation teaches us how to allow bodily sensation to guide what we explore in thought, image and movement – as moment-by-moment presence. As a practice, it helps center our minds in the present as a participant in our body’s ever-changing movement process of being in the world.

These classes are approached through Experiential Anatomy, which is an inquiry into our bodily existence from the “inside”; facilitated by touch, imagery, and deep exploration in our subjective bodily presence. An anatomical theme is introduced for the unfolding experience in each class, followed by movement improvisation with music.

All levels of experience are welcomed. Wear comfortable clothing for lying on the floor and moving freely. Please wear no fragrances. Barefoot participation is advised.
